Wrigley’s Chewing Gum: A Promotional Success Story!

Wrigley’s Chewing Gum

Many world famous brands have amazing success stories explaining how they came to be. Sir Alan Sugar’s Amstrad took advantage of the home computing explosion of the 1980’s and Sir Richard Branson started his record shop above a book store, allowing customers to sit on bean bags and eat vegetarian food whilst listening to records. Both had amazing stories of business progression and spotting money making opportunities.
The Wrigley’s chewing gum story is quite famous. It displays perceptive business skills of a young entrepreneur looking to develop and drive a big corporate company to success. William Wrigley Jr knew if he gave his customers a little something extra with each purchase he could guarantee their custom and his use of promotional products has become a tale of world wide success.

We created the below info-graphic to show the Wrigley’s chewing gum story, creating a brand which is now a house hold name!

As you can see from the info-graphic, Mr Wrigley saw the importance of promotional products, which can be used to gain customer loyalty. Giving a little extra to your clients shows that you consider there custom as important and you’re willing to show your appreciation in supporting your business. They also remind customers of your brand and promotional message, encouraging continued support of your company.

In Mr Wrigley’s case, he saw a business opportunity arise from a product which he was using as a promotional marketing tool. Listening to his customers and meeting their requirements meant he could build a successful business model around a product which had an obvious gap in the market. At the time of it’s launch, their were only 12 other companies within America producing chewing gum and the industry was relatively undeveloped. He went on to pioneer the industry and develop the Wrigley’s chewing gum brand into the world famous name it is today!
